  • It’s hard to put into words my experience on the island. There is a magical
energy there and Shima Healing is a beautiful complement to that energy. I
learned so much and left refreshed. I personally witnessed the healing
power of the Bowls: My wrist injury healed completely during the course!
Thank you, Shima Healing! I will be back.
Emmeline, Reiki healer and actor, USA
  • For whatever reason, I was expecting that this course would be mostly for
using the sound of the Bowls during meditation. However, the lessons on
how to use the Bowls on and around the body was much more interesting.
It was a beautiful journey. Akiko inspires you to go even further and to
continue learning more. You learn enough in a week to keep practicing for a
long time, even with just one Bowl, but surely after this course, you will
want to learn more! Additionally, I would recommend that you try to stay a
few days after the course on the Island to incorporate Singing Bowls with
other healing modalities and to absorb what you have learned.Ήταν ένα υπέροχο ταξίδι!
Maria, CFO, Greece
  • Shima Healing is a wonderful place that attracts beautiful individuals who
are on the path to spiritual growth and development. Knowledge is shared
from the heart. Akiko pulls insights from various ancient traditions and
teachings. The atmosphere is filled with wisdom, kindness, and joy.                            Shima Healing je predivno mesto koje okuplja zanimljive osobe koje

  • My experience at Shima Healing was without a doubt life changing. I first
met Akiko five years ago on Koh Yao Noi, and she administered a Singing
Bowl Therapy Session for me. I found it to be deep, gentle, and
transformative. Years later, we reconnected, and I was lucky enough to be
among the first class to study with her at Shima. The course is unlike any
other I have ever experienced, and this unique approach to healing has
been so beneficial in my life and the lives of my clients. In addition to the
coursework, Akiko is a gifted healer, a generous soul, and it is an honor to
call her a teacher and a friend. Learning from her and working alongside her
is a blessing for which I am beyond grateful.
Rae, Yoga teacher and massage therapist, Vietnam
  • Taking Akiko’s Singing Bowl Level 1 Course has opened up a deeper
understanding about how the Bowls work. She has structured the course in
an accessible way: Concise yet informative. The copious amount of handson
practice allowed one to have a multi‐sensory experience, and I
benefitted from understanding how to be the healer and also receiving
healing in the process. Akiko is really patient and her gentle yet affirmative
demeanour allows one to feel very welcomed at Shima Healing. I am very
much looking forward to the next level!
Amanda Ling, Yoga teacher and DJ, Singapore
  • Having taken the Energy Work Course with the Singing Bowl Course will
help provide clients with a new approach to the healing process. I am really
grateful to have taken this workshop, and I highly recommend it to all the
    healers out there.

Tibetan Singing Bowls

“We cannot solve our problems with the same mind that we created the Problem.” Albert Einstein

Vibration/Sound + Intention = Manifestation

The power of the sound healing using ancient Tibetan Singing Bowls is indescribably profound and alters our consciousness for positive transformation. It not only can penetrate the body at the cellular level as transfiguration to ease pain, but also open our energetic body to healing, regeneration, and restoration to regain balance and harmony.

The society is producing many yoga teachers. If you would wish to gain unique yet powerful skills to share and also differentiate yourself from regular Asana classes, this may be the class for you. The Centre’s singing bowl classes not only focus on the bells and bowls but also give you a very solid background in yogic practices. Nada Yoga is the flow of sound yoga in ancient traditions. You will learn how to incorporate sound into your daily practices either internally or externally.

When combining with bowls and energy together, it allows us to relax deeply and help give us gain clarity. The sound and the energy will guide you and facilitate the healing process. This course also covers preparation with Singing Bowl sound, beginning and ending the session with bowls and Tingsha, the Tibetan bells.

  1. Physical/Massage Therapist.

Many leading Spas are using Tibetan Singing Bowls at the beginning of massage treatments. The sound from ancient bowls made with seven metals facilitates deep relaxation more quickly and deeply than any other modality. Similarly, physical therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturist have been incorporating bowls and getting positive outcome with their patients. They are a great fusion of therapy with holistic approaches.

It was an immersive experience with a lot of practical practices to have your intuition and techniques as singing bowl practitioner. Much thought and care is given to kow the course is conducted so taht we can understan the nature of singing bowl therapy and be able to practice it in a safe and responsible manner. Overall, it was a cool retreat set on an island with awesome people and rustic charm. Perfect place to heal, learn and recharge.

Akiko Igarashi

Akiko Igarashi is a distinguished teacher of healing. She is a Reiki Instructor, a Qigong practitioner, a Yoga teacher, and a Tibetan Singing Bowl Master. Above all else, Akiko is a dedicated student of life.

The practice of inner stillness and focus began at a young age with Akiko. Born in Hokkaido, Japan, she was raised in the Eastern tradition of mindful living and the knowing of the interconnectedness of all beings in our existence.

For many years, even though Akiko chose a corporate life path, the practice of cultivating inner wisdom was never far from her heart, or her mind. Whilst many who worked in the same field holidayed in cities or on the beach with a cocktail in hand, Akiko walked the pilgrimage route of Camino de Santiago Compostela three times, volunteered in orphanages, and studied healing with teachers in far-off places of Nepal, India and Japan.

Through her own journeys, Akiko embodies the understanding that to heal others we must heal ourselves. This healing of the self comes from a willingness to see, feel and listen to the messages within. And from that point of bliss, greater joy is experienced by giving, and receiving in return. This is the gift Akiko wishes to share with the world through the Shima Healing Institute and its associated projects.

Akiko can be found at the Shima Healing Institute in Thailand facilitating courses, or conducting workshops in Asian countries and Europe in the summer. When she is not teaching, practicing or traveling, Akiko is rock climbing, composing children’s science fantasy literature, writing calligraphy works, and creating new projects that uplifts communities. And of course, she makes sure there is always time to just do nothing, and be.
