Shima Healer Within ™

  • Ichigo Ichie "One Encounter, One Chance" Japanese proverb

Shima Healer Within™ is a one-week course that incorporates a number of healing modalities.

It began as stand-alone workshops in 2011 to help individuals reorganise their body and mind using guided detox, meditation and yoga. It was also a prerequisite to the Shima Reiki courses. Even though the workshop only covered the very basics of mindfulness practices, participants experienced profound shifts in their lives. It has since become so popular that the workshop blossomed into an immersive and transformative week-long course that helps one to truly connect to and cultivate the healer within.

Shima Healer Within™ incorporates all the modalities taught at Shima Healing. The essence of this course is to allow subtle yet transformative shifts in your life by using simple daily practices. You may wish to use this course for your own health and wellbeing; to create more harmonious relationships at work or in your personal life; or as a first step to becoming a healing practitioner.

The benefits are manyfold. Most importantly, you will experience so much more joy and happiness in your life.

Shima Healer Within Core Course Details:

The course runs from Monday to Saturday midday. It includes 33 to 35 hours of class time, and covers 3 key components.

  1. Journey

Each day, we visit gentle yet invigorating morning and evening practices. Each practice will be unique, depending on your state of being on that day. The daily practice may include:

  • Flowing movement through Yoga and Tai-Chi
  • Inner balance through breath and qigong
  • Stillness through mindful meditation
  1. Exploration

Taking the practices to a deeper level, you will be introduced to Reiki, a powerful yet subtle system of energy healing from Japan. This component helps you develop your own unique self-healing tools to use in your daily life.

  1. Insight

Your daily meditation is accompanied by Ancient Singing Bowl. You will also learn how to use one-bowl therapy and Tingsha for self-healing.

If you wish to deepen your practice, you have the option to add on 1-day electives after program completion – in Kundalini Reiki and/or Tibetan Singing Bowl Specialisation. Availability and fees upon request.

It is an incredible introduction to the path of personal growth and self realisation. I love the way Akiko developed it to put the power back into the hands of the individual rather than seeking external ‘help’ from outside sources. The location of the course and the chilled like of Koh Yao Noi in offseason is perfect, too. Thank you Akiko! Deepest love and gratitude for this beautiful offering. Alice, Kindergarten teacher, Singapore

Akiko is a wonderful and experienced guide. I received knowledge and skills that came from ancient sources purified intentions and deep wisdom. This retreat has helped me be able to create my own routine for daily energy practices, to manage my energy levels, self heal, self inquire and refine my inner intentions and insights. And above it all, I felt very taken care of. There were ample breaks and rest to integrate the things learnt. Thank you! Elaine Ho, founder of Yoga Tribe, Singapore

The Shima Healer Within is very informative and practical. I highly recommend it to those who are new to healing as well as those who has done other healing modalities. Akiko is an excellent and inspiring teacher who helps us to go really deep within to unlock our highest potential. Yinuo Tian, co-founder of Yoga Heals, Singapore

  • It’s hard to put into words my experience on the island. There is a magical
energy there and Shima Healing is a beautiful complement to that energy. I
learned so much and left refreshed. I personally witnessed the healing
power of the Bowls: My wrist injury healed completely during the course!
Thank you, Shima Healing! I will be back.
Emmeline, Reiki healer and actor, USA
  • For whatever reason, I was expecting that this course would be mostly for
using the sound of the Bowls during meditation. However, the lessons on
how to use the Bowls on and around the body was much more interesting.
It was a beautiful journey. Akiko inspires you to go even further and to
continue learning more. You learn enough in a week to keep practicing for a
long time, even with just one Bowl, but surely after this course, you will
want to learn more! Additionally, I would recommend that you try to stay a
few days after the course on the Island to incorporate Singing Bowls with
other healing modalities and to absorb what you have learned.Ήταν ένα υπέροχο ταξίδι!
Maria, CFO, Greece
  • Shima Healing is a wonderful place that attracts beautiful individuals who
are on the path to spiritual growth and development. Knowledge is shared
from the heart. Akiko pulls insights from various ancient traditions and
teachings. The atmosphere is filled with wisdom, kindness, and joy.                            Shima Healing je predivno mesto koje okuplja zanimljive osobe koje

    mudrost, razumevanje I radost.

  • My experience at Shima Healing was without a doubt life changing. I first
met Akiko five years ago on Koh Yao Noi, and she administered a Singing
Bowl Therapy Session for me. I found it to be deep, gentle, and
transformative. Years later, we reconnected, and I was lucky enough to be
among the first class to study with her at Shima. The course is unlike any
other I have ever experienced, and this unique approach to healing has
been so beneficial in my life and the lives of my clients. In addition to the
coursework, Akiko is a gifted healer, a generous soul, and it is an honor to
call her a teacher and a friend. Learning from her and working alongside her
is a blessing for which I am beyond grateful.

  • Taking Akiko’s Singing Bowl Level 1 Course has opened up a deeper
understanding about how the Bowls work. She has structured the course in
an accessible way: Concise yet informative. The copious amount of handson
practice allowed one to have a multi‐sensory experience, and I
benefitted from understanding how to be the healer and also receiving
healing in the process. Akiko is really patient and her gentle yet affirmative
demeanour allows one to feel very welcomed at Shima Healing. I am very
much looking forward to the next level!
Amanda Ling, Yoga teacher and DJ, Singapore
  • Having taken the Energy Work Course with the Singing Bowl Course will
help provide clients with a new approach to the healing process. I am really
grateful to have taken this workshop, and I highly recommend it to all the
    healers out there.

Akiko Igarashi

Akiko Igarashi is a distinguished teacher of healing. She is a Reiki Instructor, a Qigong practitioner, a Yoga teacher, and a Tibetan Singing Bowl Master. Above all else, Akiko is a dedicated student of life.

The practice of inner stillness and focus began at a young age with Akiko. Born in Hokkaido, Japan, she was raised in the Eastern tradition of mindful living and the knowing of the interconnectedness of all beings in our existence.

For many years, even though Akiko chose a corporate life path, the practice of cultivating inner wisdom was never far from her heart, or her mind. Whilst many who worked in the same field holidayed in cities or on the beach with a cocktail in hand, Akiko walked the pilgrimage route of Camino de Santiago Compostela three times, volunteered in orphanages, and studied healing with teachers in far-off places of Nepal, India and Japan.

Through her own journeys, Akiko embodies the understanding that to heal others we must heal ourselves. This healing of the self comes from a willingness to see, feel and listen to the messages within. And from that point of bliss, greater joy is experienced by giving, and receiving in return. This is the gift Akiko wishes to share with the world through the Shima Healing Institute and its associated projects.

Akiko can be found at the Shima Healing Institute in Thailand facilitating courses, or conducting workshops in Asian countries and Europe in the summer. When she is not teaching, practicing or traveling, Akiko is rock climbing, composing children’s science fantasy literature, writing calligraphy works, and creating new projects that uplifts communities. And of course, she makes sure there is always time to just do nothing, and be.
